Trees in Construction & Design
When applying for planning permission where trees are on or adjacent to your site, tree surveys are commonly required to accompany your planning application. We provide a variety of arboricultural services to assist with this.
Site Appraisal
A service we can provide upon
a specific piece of land or property to determine its suitability for development in the context of trees. This is very early in the conception of the development. This is soley a desk based exercise.
Arboricultural Impact Assessment (AIA)
This assessment lays out the predicted impacts of the proposed development upon trees and the predicted impacts of the trees upon the development and their significance. It takes account of both the above and below ground impacts. To To help portray the impacts, this is often accompanied by a scale drawing showing tree quality assessment, crown spreads, root protection areas and shade paths.
Tree Constraints Plan (TCP)
The Tree Constraints Plan is a scaled drawing showing the existing features of the site. It will show the tree locations, tree quality, crown spreads and Root Protection Areas (RPA). Some may also show shade paths. Its purpose is to show the characteristics of the trees on or adjacent to site that are likely to constrain development.
Arboricultural Method Statement (AMS)
This is a method statement to which must be adhered to by all those involved with the development, for its duration. The AMS explains the methods to prevent, minimise or mitigate impacts identified in the AIA. It often makes reference to the Tree Protection Plan.
Tree Protection Plan (TPP)
A scale drawing showing the proposed development. The TPP will show tree quality assessment and crown spreads, It may also include root protection areas and shade paths. But most importantly it shows the construction exclusion zones. TPP's are an essential part of the arboricultural method statement.
Arboricultural Supervision
A service we provide to ensure that the Tree Protection Plan and Arboricultural Method Statement are being adhered to. It plays an important role in ensuring retained trees are protected properly and with it their benefits. Adequate supervision also minimises the likelihood of 'stop notices' and plays an important part of ensure your development gets over the line.
